Strolling hand in hand with the one you loved in the park on a cool Sunday morning;
Being surprised on your birthday; someone that you liked called you to say goodnight or just to find out how you are;
Getting your first pay check with many zero-s behind a digit;
Watching the graduation of your children and know that your effort pays off over the years...
.....and the list goes on.....
What is that first word that comes to your mind?
Happiness?
These are circumstances that causes this surge of endorphine within us; but ask yourself is it permanent or was it just temporary?
Let's just turn the circumstances around and see what's next?
What if the one you loved dies?
What if whatever time, energy and money you've invested in the so-called your masterpiece of life ended up just like any other normal thing or it is being trashed due to some reason or another?
Often happiness flees and despair sets in....
This temporary feeling of "happiness": will be well forgotten, buried in deep piles of disappointment, anger and maybe hatred against all that happens...
It did not last after all, so can anyone tell me what is the purpose of this "happiness"??
Happiness, being determined from the outside but joy on the other hand comes from within...
You are able to rejoice in time of suffering because deep down you know that there is a higher calling more than whatever circumstances that you are facing...
Rejoicing in bad times is never easy but at the same time never difficult, because what we have that higher calling in Christ who still reigns and we still know him....
Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice!
