Modern day bomb: Part 1

"It could have burned the side of my face or through my pocket and my leg or set fire to my bed..." quoting from a Samsung Galaxy S3 phone user in Dublin from a news report in dailymail.co.uk dated 21st June 2012...

Many speculations comments has been going on forums and blogs...Is it because of the car mount that he was using that caused the explosion? What did he meant about "it could have burned the side of his face"? etc...etc...

So what actually happened? How is it possible that the phone as the user claimed: 'A white flame, sparks and a bang came out of my phone'

My own point of view probably because of the mount that he was using, even though that he said that it is a plastic mount but there are 2 springs approximately 2cm behind the mount and which is in close proximity to  where the battery is.And the metal from the spring could possibly had a reaction with the battery terminals and caused the explosion.
To make matters worse he could possibly be using it for call at the same time as it is near the antenna area??
Exact cause I really don't know and let's just leave it for the experts in Samsung to answer the questions...
But interesting stuff I discovered from a safety information of a phone battery manual...

1. Do not use your device during thunderstorm; Your device may malfunction and your risk of electric shock is increased...
Hmm...So meaning if you are having an emergency during a thunderstorm, you can't even use it to call for help? Because there are chances (although probability seems to be low, but not exactly impossible) that instead of you helping, you'll be the electrocuted one?

2. Do not store device near metal objects, such as coins, keys and necklaces; if battery comes in contact with these, they will caused fire...
So meaning if you placed it in a hand bag where there are coins, keys and other metal object, you are literally carrying a fire bomb?

Well, there are more and most of us are familiar with all these do-s and don't-s whether knowingly or we deemed them as common sense...
But until we really read the manual and give deep thoughts to it, we don't really understand the device that we are using, do we?
How many people out there actually read the manual of safety and precautions about the gadgets that they bought? I for one DO NOT READ it...But today, I did something different, I actually spend some time reading a 36 page long manual of a gadget that I have...

But the more you read the manual and to actually give it a thought to some situations that we could possibly be in...
Technology nowadays seems to be putting our lives at risk instead of us at ease.We are carrying more and more modern day bombs on ourselves with all these so-called gadgets.Even the odds of all these things exploding are like 1 in 100000 (just an example on the statistic, actual probability is unknown), well could we be the 1?

All these brilliant inventions of modern day gadgets and technology are product of someone's intelligent mind. But do we, users know what are the dangers hidden behind all these gadgets? Instead of live-saving and giving us comfort, will it bring on ourselves more harm?
It'll be a never ending debate with no clear cut answers up to this date for sure...

In application to us in life, do we read the Basic-Instruction-Before-Leaving-Earth (BIBLE) and to go through everything that we face in life according to all these "safety and precaution" stated within?
